Palawan’s Angelica Lopez will be representing the Philippines in the November pageant

MANILA, Philippines – Save the date, pageant fans! The Miss International Organization (MIO) is crowning its new queen on November 12 at the Tokyo Dome City Hall in Japan.

The organization made the announcement on Thursday, September 12, saying the upcoming 62nd edition will follow the theme “Sustainable in Pageantry.”

“‘Sustainability in Pageantry’ emphasizes the need for national organizations to be self-reliant, independent and confident in its own brand,” the organization said.

The pageant organizers added that they will “underline the traditional aspects of beauty pageant through a healthy and friendly competition, while also develop genuine sisterhood among the delegates.”

More than 70 delegates from around the world will start arriving in Japan on October 29 for the start of the pre-pageant activities.

Prior to the coronation night, the candidates will participate in the national costume show on November 3, and the preliminary evaluation on November 10 at the Professional University of Beauty and Wellness in Yokohama City.

The MIO also disclosed that this year’s competition will see the return of the onstage swimsuit competition during the finals night. It can be recalled that the swimsuit parade was removed in the 2023 edition, and was only done during the closed door preliminary evaluation.

Venezuela’s Andrea Rubio will be crowning her successor.

Angelica Lopez of Palawan will be representing the Philippines in the pageant’s upcoming edition. Lopez was crowned during the Binibining Pilipinas 2023 pageant.

Lopez will be competing in hopes of winning the Philippines’ seventh Miss International crown.

The Philippines is home to six Miss Internationals – Gemma Cruz Araneta (1963), Aurora Pijuan (1968), Melanie Marquez (1979), Precious Lara Quigaman (2005), Bea Rose Santiago (2013), and Kylie Verzosa (2016). – Rappler.com
