The second day of the congressional probe not only looks into how Sara Duterte utilized her OVP funds, but also how she performed as education secretary
MANILA, Philippines – The House good government committee will hold a second day of investigation into how Vice President Sara Duterte utilized the budget of her offices on Wednesday, September 25.
The panel will resume deliberations on the privilege speech of Manila 2nd District Representative Rolando Valeriano accusing Duterte of mishandling the Office of the Vice President’s (OVP) funds.
It would also, for the first time, hold a probe into the failure of the Department of Education, under Duterte’s leadership, to deliver tech learning materials to schools.
Duterte briefly showed up during the first day of the hearing on September 18, but she refused to testify under oath, questioned the legitimacy of the probe, accused lawmakers yet again of plotting her impeachment, and asked that the hearing be terminated.
She left after committee chairperson Joel Chua denied her request.
