Kabayan party-list vows to push for OFW welfare

MANILA, Philippines — Kabayan party-list will continue pushing for measures that seek to protect overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) if it again wins a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2025 elections, its Representative Ron Salo said on Tuesday.

Salo noted that the welfare of OFWs is part of their Kabayan +2 program, which stands for Kalusugan, Pabahay, at Kabuhayan (health, housing, and livelihood) as well as education and OFW concerns.

“Ang sinusulong po natin ay masigurado na maprotektahan ang kanilang (OFWs) kapakanan,” Salo said after filing the party’s certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) at the Manila Hotel tent.

(We are pushing for the protection and well-being of OFWs.)

Salo also said the welfare of seafarers is included in their advocacy, and Kabayan is one of those who pushed for the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers, which was signed into law on Monday.

“Nagpapasalamat po syempre sa ating Pangulo sapagkat napirmahan na po ito at sa atin pong Speaker of the House na si Representative Martin Romualdez at ang ating katandem sa Senado si Senator Raffy Tulfo,” he added.
