Salo noted that the welfare of OFWs is part of their Kabayan +2 program, which stands for Kalusugan, Pabahay, at Kabuhayan (health, housing, and livelihood) as well as education and OFW concerns.
“Ang sinusulong po natin ay masigurado na maprotektahan ang kanilang (OFWs) kapakanan,” Salo said after filing the party’s certificate of nomination and acceptance (CONA) at the Manila Hotel tent.

Salo also said the welfare of seafarers is included in their advocacy, and Kabayan is one of those who pushed for the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers, which was signed into law on Monday.
“Nagpapasalamat po syempre sa ating Pangulo sapagkat napirmahan na po ito at sa atin pong Speaker of the House na si Representative Martin Romualdez at ang ating katandem sa Senado si Senator Raffy Tulfo,” he added.

Republic Act No. 12021, or An Act Providing for the Magna Carta of Filipino Seafarers, outlines the rights of seamen, including the right to just terms and conditions of work and the right to self-organization and collective bargaining.
