MANILA, Philippines — As the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) for the 2025 polls starts, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said it has not yet monitored any cases of election-related violence within Metro Manila.
According to NCRPO chief Major General Jose Melencio Nartatez, they have already dispatched police personnel to the Manila Hotel and other areas also designated for COC filing to ensure public safety.

“We have not monitored any violent, unusual, or election-related incident within Metro Manila. We have 16 cities and one municipality here and in each of the 17 centers, we dispatched police personnel,” Nartatez in an ambush interview on Tuesday.
“We have not yet monitored any incident as of this time,” he added.
During the campaign and election period, the Philippine National Police (PNP) will identify areas of election areas of concern and submit their recommended list to the Commission on Elections (Comelec) for approval.

The PNP will likewise identify if the areas on their list are under the red category (placed under the Comelec’s supervision to suppress potential election-related violence); orange category (areas with serious threats); yellow category (those with a history of election-related incidents); and green category (areas with no security concern).

Earlier, the NCRPO said it had deployed 1,389 personnel from October 1 to 8.
On the first day of filing, Comelec reported that 3,259 aspiring candidates filed their COCs for various seats in the upcoming polls.
