MANILA, Philippines — A total of 17,031 certificates of candidacy have so far been filed as of the fifth day of the COC filing period for the 2025 midterm elections, the Commission on Elections (Comelec) said on Saturday.
The Comelec’s preliminary report on the number of aspirants as of 7:00 p.m. stated that 13,370 COC filers are male (78.50 percent) while 3,661 (21.50 percent) are female aspirants.
Seventy filers are senatorial aspirants; 73 are for party-lists; 275 for members of the House of Representatives; 79 for governor; 54 for vice-governor; 628 for members of Sangguniang Panlalawigan; 1,580 for mayor; 1,455 for vice-mayor; and 12,890 for members of Sangguniang Panlungsod/Bayan.
