MANILA, Philippines — Alice Guo on Tuesday said she would not seek reelection as Bamban mayor in 2025 to clean her name amid the cases filed against her.
Senate President Pro Tempore Jinggoy Estrada brought up the matter during the Senate panel on women’s 15th hearing on Guo’s ties to Philippine offshore gaming operators (Pogos).
“I will face the accusations being hurled against me. I will cleanse myself so that I become fair to my constituents whom I really love,” Guo said in Filipino.
During the hearing, Sen. Joel Villanueva also warned that Pogos could be sponsoring candidates for the 2025 elections.
“Pogo politics represents a new form of corruption,” he added.
