Apollo Quiboloy faces Senate, more alleged victims testify

Rappler’s Bonz Magsambol gives a recap of the Senate probe

MANILA, Philippines – Doomsday preacher Apollo Quiboloy on Wednesday, October 23, faced the Senate for the first time since the committee on women led by Senator Risa Hontiveros launched nine months ago its probe into his alleged human rights abuses.

At the hearing, more alleged victims of sexual exploitation testified, saying that they were made to believe that Quiboloy’s sexual acts were normal.

Quiboloy denied the allegations, adding that these victims are free to file criminal charges against him.

The doomsday preacher hit Hontiveros’ committee, claiming it was unfair and that its probe was tantamount to “trial by publicity.”
