MANILA, Philippines – The six-day filing period for certificates of candidacy and manifestations of intent by political parties to join the 2025 Bangsamoro parliamentary elections comes to a close on Saturday, November 9, laying crucial groundwork for the first parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Key political groups in BARMM, including the Moro Islamic Liberation Front’s United Bangsamoro Justice Party (MILF-UBJP), filed their manifestations with the Commission on Elections (Comelec), initiating their separate bids for seats in the BARMM parliament. So did individuals aspiring to represent parliamentary districts across the Muslim-majority region.
Unlike the national and local candidacy filing period in October, the filing period for BARMM positions has so far been noted for its relatively peaceful and orderly conduct.
