It has been three years since Dodot revealed that the 78-year-old Jaworski Sr. is suffering from a rare blood disorder which causes elevated iron levels despite him being anemic.
“He’s home. He’s very comfortable. But of course, he has yet to regain his old strength. The important thing is he’s physically stronger now than he was last year,” Dodot, the vice mayor of Pasig City, said in a mix of Filipino and English.
“Last year, he had more challenges. There’s improvement, but he’s still not back to 100 percent.”
The PBA Press Corps feted the elder Jaworski for a remarkable career that saw him become the face of the hugely popular Barangay Ginebra franchise and set multiple records.

“I’m sure he’s very happy and proud of the recognition. He misses his PBA family, he misses watching the games, he misses going and hearing the fans chant his name whenever he walks into the coliseum,” Dodot said.
