MANILA, Philippines — Former Quezon City 1st District Rep. Vincent “Bingbong” Crisologo has criticized Arjo Atayde, the incumbent lawmaker in the same district, for allegedly not implementing any infrastructure projects and for being inaccessible to his constituents.
Crisologo made these remarks after filing his certificate of candidacy for the same position on Saturday. He is running under the Partido Federal ng Pilipinas.

“Alam mo ang tao, ang gusto nila nakikita nila ‘yung congressman nila, bumababa, nakakausap nila, madaling lapitan, nakakakwentuhan nila, nasasabi nila ‘yung pangangailangan ng kominidad. I feel that I can do that more because I’ve been used to it,” he said in an interview with reporters.
(You know, people want to see their congressman, someone who goes out to meet them, someone they can talk to, easily approach, have conversations with, and express the needs of the community. I feel that I can do that more because I’m used to it.)

He also said that he “can do more,” which is why he decided to run for the position.

Crisologo further criticized Atayde, claiming that the latter has not accomplished anything during his term.
“Unang-una, in the three years that he’s been congressman, a single project wala,” he said.
(First of all, in the three years that he’s been congressman, not a single project has been accomplished.)
“Tsaka hindi bumababa, hindi siya nakikita. So, ayoko na sana [tumakbo sa eleksyon], I’m 77 years old; gusto ko na sanang relax-relax nalang, pasyal-pasyal nalang, pero wala naman akong ginagawa at hindi ko naman mahindian ‘yung panawagan ng mamamayan namin,” he said.
(And he doesn’t go out; he’s not visible. I didn’t really want to run [in the election] anymore—I’m 77 years old, and I just wanted to relax and enjoy life. But since I’m not doing much, and I can’t ignore the call of our people, I decided to run.)
“Hindi siya nakikita, you can ask anybody in the district kahit sinong ordinaryong tao o barangay official wala, talagang cannot be reached. Tsaka walang project, not one infrastructure,” he continued.
(He’s not visible; you can ask anyone in the district—any ordinary person or barangay official—there’s nothing; he’s really unreachable. And there’s no project, not a single infrastructure.)

Crisologo served as congressman in the city for 12 years and as councilor for six years.
