While he opposes the mandatory ROTC bill, Senate President Chiz Escudero says he will not silence its advocates in the upper chamber
MANILA, Philippines – Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero reiterated on Thursday, October 10, that he remains opposed to mandatory Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (ROTC).
Escudero made the announcement following a meeting with officials from the Department of National Defense on Wednesday, October 9, where they discussed the mandatory ROTC bill and reforms to the pension system for military and uniformed personnel.
While he opposes the mandatory ROTC bill, Escudero said he would not silence its advocates in the Senate.
Meanwhile, in the case of Alice Guo, Escudero said that it was difficult to determine whether the dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor was indeed a Chinese spy as the evidence had not yet been reviewed by the Philippine intelligence group.
