Former Zamboanga del Sur governor eyeing House seat

PAGADIAN CITY, Zamboanga del Sur – Former Zamboanga del Sur Gov. Aurora Cerilles is seeking to regain her former seat in the House of Representatives.

Cerilles filed her Certificate of Candidacy (COC) on Friday for representative of the province’s second congressional district, a post she held for nine years from 2010 to 2019.

Prior to that, she was governor from 2001 to 2010.

Cerilles vowed to bring education back as a priority program for her constituents along with providing social welfare services.

Cerilles reunited with a former ally, outgoing Labangan Mayor Eduardo Relacion, who filed his COC for representative of the first congressional district.

Cerilles and Relacion are expected to join forces with outgoing Dumalinao Mayor Junaflor Cerilles who has confirmed on Friday that she will run fir provincial governor.

Mayor Cerilles, former Governor Cerilles’ daughter-in-law, had set Saturday to file her COC. Her husband Ace is expected to also file his COC for Dumalinao mayor on Saturday.

During their time in office, Mayors Cerilles and Relacion led their respective local governments in bagging successive Seal of Good Local Governance awards.
