MANILA, Philippines — Former Manila mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso informed incumbent Mayor Honey Lacuna of his plans to return as the city’s local chief executive.
Lacuna on Thursday said she and Domagoso talked about it back in August.
“We talked once, but we never talked again,” Lacuna said in an ambush interview after she filed a certificate of candidacy (COC) for reelection.
“Nagpaalam siya na binabalak niyang tumakbo,” she also said. “Wala naman po akong reaction.”

Domagoso has yet to formally announce his bid to return to Manila’s top post.
“I wish him well. Good luck to him,” Lacuna said.
Domagoso served as Manila mayor for one term, winning in the 2019 polls with Lacuna as his running mate.
He then ran for president in 2022 but emerged fourth place out of 10 candidates, behind now-President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., former Vice President Leni Robredo, and former Senator Manny Pacquiao.
Lacuna then ran for mayor the same year, with Domagoso endorsing her mayoral bid.
