Leni Robredo files COC for Naga City mayor

MANILA, Philippines — Almost three years after her last election run, former Vice President Leni Robredo is now ready to return to government service as she filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for mayor in Naga City on Saturday.

Despite calls for her to run for senator, Robredo previously said she had set aside that possibility as she preferred to run for mayor in her province.

“I know my strengths, and I excel in executive roles. I genuinely love community work, and my skill set is better suited for the mayor’s office than the Senate,” Robredo said in a press briefing.

It was the same post in the province that her late husband former Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo occupied for six terms, beginning in 1998.

The late Robredo received awards for his governance, including the Ramon Magsaysay Award for Government Service in 2000.
