MANILA, Philippines — Inspired by his success and achievements, Leandro Legarda Leviste filed his certificate of candidacy (COC) on Tuesday, aiming to share his accomplishments with the Batangueños as 1st District representative.
Leviste, son of four-term senator Loren Legarda, is known for pioneering the country’s renewable energy, having founded Solar Philippines in 2013.
The solar company has developed various solar power projects nationwide, including the first solar power plan in Calatagan, Batangas in 2016.
“Sa aking buhay at sa aking negosyo, parang tumama po ako sa lotto, at naniniwala po ako na tungkulin ko pong ibahagi ang mga naipanalo ko sa ating mga kababayan,” Leviste said in a statement.
(In my life and business, it’s like I’ve hit the lottery, and it is my duty to share the winnings with our fellow citizens.)

“Ang pangarap ko po ay sa darating na dekada ang walong bayan ng unang distrito ay maging mga modernong lungsod, at ang buong unang distrito ay maging isang metropolis na maaring mataguriang Metro Batangas,” Leviste said in his campaign sortie on Tuesday.
(I dream that in the coming decade, the eight towns of the first district will become modern cities, and the entire first district will transform into a metropolis that can be called Metro Batangas.)
“Our goal is for the national government to prioritize the development of the 1st District of Batangas, to bring its economy at least at par with other nearby districts of Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas,” he added.
