MANILA, Philippines — No areas of concern or untoward incidents have so far been identified or reported on the fifth day of the filing certificates of candidacy (COCs) for the 2025 midterm elections, Commission on Elections (Comelec) Chairman George Garcia on Saturday.
According to Garcia, this is due to the fact that no untoward incidents have so far been recorded by the Commission on Elections nationwide, as of 5 p.m. Saturday.
“So far naman po wala, dahil ‘yung deployment natin ng PNP (Philippine National Police) sa iba’t ibang parte ng bansa, hindi naman nadagdagan,” said Garcia in a press briefing after the conclusion of the 5th day of the filing of COCs.
(So far, nothing, because our PNP deployment in different parts of the country has not increased.)
“At wala namang pangangailangan na magdagdag ng kahit anong contingent forces sa kahit anong parte ng ating bansa,” he added.

(And there is no need to add contingent forces in any part of our country.)

Garcia said that the only incident that might have been linked to the ongoing filing of COCs has already been ruled out by the PNP as unrelated to the elections.
He was referring to an incident in Malolos, Bulacan, where a provincial board member and his driver were shot and killed by a lone gunman as their vehicle was stuck in traffic in Barangay Ligas.
“And therefore, so far, wala pa rin po tayong na kahit anong insidente ng karahsan dito sa filing of certificates ng candidacy,” said Garcia.
(And therefore, so far, we still do not have any incident of violence during the filing of certificates of candidacy.)
“Kaya wala po tayong kinakailangan ideklera na lugar na maarring area of concern natin,” he added.
(So we have no need to declare places or areas under concern yet.)
