MANILA, Philippines – Ready to slip further into the diamond life? There’s no denying that K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN is one of the biggest acts in K-pop.
Just like their lyric “SEVENTEEN to the world!” in God of Music, the group has achieved a lot in the global stage such as having the the best-selling album in the world in 2023 and being the first UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth in 2024.
They have also performed on many stages and headlined international music festivals such as Glastonbury in the UK and Lollapalooza Berlin in Germany. One of their newest achievements is their win at the 2024 Video Music Awards for Best Group.
Whether you’ve only heard of them recently or been a CARAT for a while, they have created so much content over the 10 years of being together as a 13-member group to connect with their fans in various ways, such as posting long-form content on their YouTube channel and collaborating with famous Korean personalities.
These kinds of videos give a chance for fans to get to know each member’s personality and dynamics more than just co-workers, but also as a group with a tight-knit bond.
‘Seventeen Project: Debut Big Plan’
Ever wondered how SEVENTEEN was formed? Uploaded on their YouTube channel, Seventeen Project is a documentary series about the group’s journey to their debut.
Up close and personal, the documentary covers the members’ lives, practices, recording sessions, and humble beginnings. The series also contains interviews of each member as they open up and look back on their trainee days.
The road to success is never easy as SEVENTEEN includes the trials they’ve experienced pre-debut in the series.
Now that you know how they started, it is time to take a deep dive into their discography. In celebration of the release of their album 17 IS RIGHT HERE in April, Woozi released a commentary live for Carats on Weverse.
Woozi is the main producer of SEVENTEEN’s music and the leader of the vocal unit.
The commentary live gives a chance for Woozi to reminisce SEVENTEEN’s songs over the years. He even shared stories behind the songs he produced. One memorable moment he shared was the making of their hit song “SUPER.”
He explains that during Face The Sun until Sector 17, their relationship was okay but the vibe was not good. It was a rough time for the group and Woozi wanted to overcome that like a superhero. Hence, “SUPER” was born.
‘SEVENTEEN: HIT THE ROAD’
SEVENTEEN: HIT THE ROAD is a documentary about SEVENTEEN’s Ode To You World Tour. Their preparations, personal insights, and what happens backstage are included in the series.
The documentary also serves as an eye-opener that K-pop idols are just like any other humans as the group also shows the unglamorized side of the industry like overworking, reaching their limits, and physical exhaustion.
‘Going Seventeen’
Going Seventeen is a series of long-form videos uploaded every Wednesday on SEVENTEEN’s YouTube channel. The concepts for the series change every couple of weeks and can be anything under the sun—- from challenges, group hangouts, game shows, skits, and even horror specials.
Some famous episodes include “Don’t Lie” which is the group’s take on the mafia game, “TTT” which shows a glimpse of how the group spends a vacation together, “Insomnia Zero” where members can go home early if they have the most stable heart rate while being exposed by the other members, and many more.
Each concept is split into two or three episodes and uploaded on consecutive Wednesdays.
‘Inside Seventeen’
Inside Seventeen contains vlogs of the SEVENTEEN members. The episodes vary from behind-the-scenes footage of the group’s comeback or individual schedules of the members such as photoshoots, events, reaction videos, and brand endorsements.
Episodes include “LALALI, Spell, Cheers to youth” music video reaction sketch, behind-the-scenes footage of SEVENTEEN Follow tour in Asia, and the “unit reverse” recording for SVT 8th fan meeting SEVENTEEN in CARATLAND.
‘SVT Record’
Want a date with your bias? Look no further because SVT Record is a more personal take on SEVENTEEN’s content. These videos are filmed during the members’ day offs or personal schedule.
Whether you want to join Seungkwan on a hike, be with Vernon as he prepares for a fashion show, or a date with Jeonghan in Paris, SVT Record is the series to go to if you want to get more intimate with the members.
SEVENTEEN x NA PD
SEVENTEEN also thrives in collaboration. One constant Korean personality who collaborates with the boy group is famous Korean television producer and director Na Young-seok, better known by his nickname Na PD.
Na PD is famous for his variety shows such as travel reality show Youth Over Flowers, and reality cooking shows like Youn’s Kitchen and Three Meals A Day. He also made cameos in some episodes of famous K-drama shows such as Hospital Playlist and Reply 1994.
Notable episodes include THE GAME CATERERS 2 x SEVENTEEN where the group shows their fun and competitive side as they do different challenges like guessing the artist, answering fun facts for a prize, and even a basketball game.
Another episode recommendation is The God of Gratitude – Grateful to SEVENTEEN where Na PD takes it upon himself to personally cook for SEVENTEEN as a celebration for their comeback with “Maestro” in May 2024.
‘Nana Tour’
Born out of a Game Caterers 2 x SEVENTEEN episode where DK won Youth Over Flowers, which is a travel reality show for the group, where participants only find out they will be leaving the country three hours before the flight, they leave with no luggage. Instead of using the original title of the show, it was renamed as “Nana Tour.”
It starts with Na PD kidnapping SEVENTEEN after their concert in Tokyo and surprising them with a trip to Italy. Instead of having challenges, this reality show is more of a vacation, while Na PD serves as their tour guide.
It was aired in South Korea via tvN last January 5 but replays of all episodes can be bought and watched on Weverse.
‘In The Soop’ Seasons 1 and 2
Originating from BTS, In The Soop is a reality series where idols take a break from their busy lives in the city and take a vacation in the forest to spend time together, relax, and enjoy their hobbies.
SEVENTEEN’s version of In The Soop contains wholesome moments like group dinners in which members enjoy late-night talks, a bonfire, cooking together, and many more.
The two seasons of the show can be bought and watched through Weverse.
Lollapalooza Berlin performance
For Carats looking for an adrenaline rush, SEVENTEEN’s Lollapalooza Berlin performance last September 8 was streamed live and uploaded on the festival’s channel. It can also be found on SEVENTEEN’s YouTube channel.
In an hour and a half, the K-pop boy group was able to perform 19 of their songs out of their discography. Their popular songs such as “Super”, “HOT”, “Darl+ing” were included in the setlist.
But wait there is more! They also sang their newest single “Maestro” and also surprised everyone with “CHEERS” performed by the leader line S.COUPS, Hoshi, and Woozi.
This is the first time K-pop group SEVENTEEN headlined the festival.
