LEGAZPI CITY — The mayor of Tabaco City in Albay province filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) at the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) here on Saturday, October 5.
The candidate is running in Albay’s first district as representative and she is pushing for the passage of a divorce law in the country.
Krisel Lagman, who is serving her fifth time as Tabaco city mayor, is seeking to return to Congress through the 2025 midterm elections.
Before serving as mayor, she held two consecutive terms in the House of Representatives from 1998 to 2004.
Emphasizing her commitment to the enactment of the divorce bill, she told INQUIRER.net in an interview on Saturday that “divorce does not destroy a good marriage. It simply ends a bitter one.”

She said that if elected, she will also ensure that Congress secures sufficient funding from the national government to provide financial assistance to qualified solo parents.

Meanwhile, 1st District Board Member Sheina Onrubia-Dela Cruz also filed her COC, seeking reelection in 2025.
Lawyers Gio Ong Bongao and Elmar Barreda likewise filed their COCs for board members in Albay’s first district.
